Good read Michael ..covered alot of ground! ..I think Botterill will trade kane and others to put his own stamp on this team..can't see him giving kane a 7×6 ish contact ..if you look at oposo and lucic. .(that is if their a fair comparisons?)He'll be moved! Imho. .I'm surprised that they haven't been able to respond to Housley system..or at least play more consistent I thought they would be a wild card team for sure at least... Idk what the frank is going on ....but hopefully things will turn around soon! ..and Rochester will continue their winning and development of the players down there. ..and how's nylander doing?

Whatever he does, he would be smart to show more patience than TM and a lot of the fans.

They are in need of a few more (3?) impact players. If you're gonna finish low, keep the picks that's a no brainer, and start looking at free agents, but don't trade away young assets for short term fixes. Try for a few reclamation projects on the cheap.
Lower a few expectations for individual players ( Samson) accept it and pay accordingly at contract time.

Not sure I agree with the Housley thing...why do we always see ridiculously young teams with rookie coaches and why are we surprised that they don't progress as fast as we want them to?
I get that certain coaches work better with Veterans ( Hitchcock comes to mind) but there are a poopload of proven coaches that a) have won as NHL head coaches, b) and have improved young teams while in charge.

The fact is that Phil Housley has accomplished less as a head coach than that piece of poop Dallas Eakins.

Organizations often misread their fan base...most if not all knowledgeable fan bases understand the importance of a proper rebuild and are patient enough to embrace it. Ownership...that's another story.

This is probably everyone's favourite scenario but...how do you make it work? Almost certainly have to take a deal back. if it's short term sure. Who are the takers

time will tell on that one...the old adage is "whoever gets the best player wins the trade"

kane is surely the best player of all those moved...at least right now
